March Madness Shelling

Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the birdies is?

One of the many little ditties my mother taught me long ago.

So due to new beach laws, the March madness with spring breakers is at a minimum I'm happy to report.

One of the new laws year round that we shellers need to be aware of is no digging holes deeper than 2 feet and no metal shovels allowed on the beach.

Also, this past week they have begun beach restoration at both piers, Treasure Island condo and one more place. However, I heard thru the grapevine they are removing any shells they find. Not sure of details.

So here's my treasures for March...

Another cool Giant Cockle

Snatched these out of the waves down by St Andrews State Park - great fun in spite of getting drenched! Great shells are be found not always by digging.

While covering up the hole I'd dug in for a short time after work, came upon this pretty little Junonia!

Notice a broken Junonia... we keep even the pieces lol :)

Keepers
Most of the shells I find I give away but there are a few I need to keep!

HAPPY SHELLING Y'ALL!

  1. Does the removal of the seashells mean that there will be none to choose from if someone chooses to go shelling? I'm going to Panama City for a night in June and this was something I was so excited for as a shell collector. Thanks!
