Shelling After Storms and with Pelicans

This is the fun time to shell... after the wind and waves have exposed seashells along the shore and in the dunes.

This Week Found Most Shells by Not Digging

Not many people here so maybe that's why I found so many shells in the water and in the sand dunes this week.

See the whelk? After I took this photo, I put the shells on the counter and the whelk fell off on its own. Then I realized it had a hermit crab inside, so back to the water it went!

Spent all morning at the state park - hardly anyone there... so nice! This is one of 3 bags for the day.

Most of these Shells Not from Digging

Every now and again, sea shells will be tossed in the waves and I found many this week that way. Also on one day, found several shells buried right at the shoreline and dug those up. Got drenched both ways and this past Saturday had to change my clothes FOUR times but had lots of fun in the process!

Shelling in the Sun and the Rain

Today was fun in spite of getting drenched this morning during a rain storm. Sometimes, when the waves are hitting the beach, a few shells will peek out and if you dig a bit, you can find a great treasure. That is what happened this afternoon and here are a few of the keepers.
