Scallops and Horse Conch

Sunday was rain, rain and more rain so cleaned up some shells to ship to a friend and pull out these pretty scallops that I'm keeping.

One of yesterday's storms

Later went out in between rain showers and here are a FEW of my treasures.

Then TODAY after work walked down the beach and found a big hole someone else started and found lots of goodies including this pretty little Horse Conch which is the state shell for Florida.

It was a beautiful day for a walk

Tonight's lovely sunset

Juno Volute and a Cameo Helmet

So this morning at St Andrews State Park, I dug up a couple of cool shells... a Juno Volute and a Cameo Helmet!

And here are a few from yesterday...

Lately have found lots of shells here near my condo

We shellers collect in all kinds of weather LOL

Tropical Storm Karen Coming to Town

And TS Karen may be a hurricane by the time she hits the Florida Panhandle on Saturday!

Nevertheless, the crashing waves today are allowing us shellers find all kinds of goodies!

Took 30 min at lunchtime and found these

Then found these after work which includes a Hairy Triton... without the hair LOL!

Also met fellow sheller, Renee! She and her husband are on vacation and they and their friends stopped by today, so gave them a couple of bags of shells - have fun!

Also met another local sheller, Minny and her husband, Ned. She and I had fun scooping up shells and getting soaked in the process!

Watching a Glorious Sunset While Shelling

So much fun! After work, walked on the beach and saw that the waves were crashing on the shore and shells were appearing in the sand, so got a bunch!

And check out this heart shaped scallop. At some point it was crushed into this shape... they do say love sometimes hurts!

Shells everywhere!

And enjoyed a glorious sunset too :D

Cabrit's Murex & a Velvet Egg Cockle

The days are getting shorter so went on the beach with trowel in hand right after I got home from work and was rewarded with a Cabrit's Murex & a Velvet Egg Cockle!

The Cockle is fragile and I usually find broken or smaller ones so this was a nice surprise.

The Murex also is fragile with the spiny pieces usually broken off so I am happy to find both these today :D !

A FEW MORE PHOTOS FROM TODAY...

It was a beautiful Oct 1st morning!

Rise and Shine!

My condo is in the far right building, bottom floor facing the Gulf

At lunch, went to the state park campground and walked around... very relaxing and fun...

Not sure why they named this bird Red-Bellied Woodpecker when his head is red and not his belly LOL!
